Interleaved layers- Is there an easy way to do it?

(1/1)

McPete:
Hi all,

Through my new employment, I've gained access to Altium! My near-vertical learning curve has begun!

A quick question for our resident experts though; I have a design request that involves every second layer of a 14 layer PCB (all planes) be  bonded through multiple vias...  Think a multi-layer ceramic capacitor, and you've got the idea.

What would be the easiest way to do this?

Thanks!

You can put vias down quickly by pressing P, V, then Tab to set the via properties. When you place it down, it will attempt to guess what net to take (or ask you).
To my knowledge, Altium doesn't have a tool that will autplace vias like some more RF oriented packages have. If you need a big grid of them though, you can lay a few down to get your spacing, then start copy-pasting the vias.
