45 degree component DRC violations
« on: March 24, 2017, 11:07:32 am »
So, I'm working on a pcb design in altium. I have a few components I want at 45 degrees for space reasons, but it seems to mess with DRC. Even though the components are clearly spaced far enought (0.3mm when the DRC is set to, if I am not mistaken, 0.15 (I checked that this was not the issue before, but I forgot the value). I've read on the interwebz and here on this forum that it has to do with altium just drawing rectangles that are still horizontal/vertical around components and using those for the collision stuff, but I have no clue how to fix this.

Anyone who can point me on the right direction?

I think the bounding rectangle is only used if there is no 3D model for a component.  If both components have 3D bodies then it should do a more precise clearance check between them.

Create new clearance rule for those two components. Its a hack. Let me know if you find something better!

Asin, add an exception and just give them a 0 clearance rule and make sure to triple check they meet the design rules manually before sending out the design?
