Importing a DXF into Altium PCB Library.
« on: May 18, 2014, 10:40:21 am »
I'm stuck, i'm trying to import a complex shape via a DXF into a component library ( to make a footprint ).  I can import a dxf into a pcb but not the component.  The options just not there to do it into a library.   IS there a way. I could draw it, in altium but its a lot of work, and i have quite a lot of things to draw, so looking for the 'better' way.

Perhaps you can import into a temporary PCB then copy and paste into the library?

I haven't tested it, but I'm sure I've copied and pasted exploded parts from PCB to library before so that part should work.

Edited   thanks!  that seems to work fine.    Had to move the layers before i copied it though into the component library..

It does seem like quite a work around, you'd think you could import directly.
