Altium problem: Cant drag/move traces.
« on: August 17, 2016, 06:10:33 am »
Hey, im having and issue in altium (latest version)
It's a rigid flex design.

The issue is on the sections of the pcb that have an angled grid.  I can't drag/move traces or vias around once placed.
It's like alitum thinks there's zero clearance available nearby to move too.

(im using the free angle route placement mode, if this has anything to do with it. Cant use the usual 90/45 degree mode because this does not take grid angle into account)

Any ideas?

So it frees up when you you cycle SHIFT+R to Ignore?  (Of course, you /need/ it in some routing mode, otherwise what's the point.  I'm just checking.)

I saw a weird thing like that recently, I need to call support and see what they think of it...

Thanks

What sort of grid are you using and what sort of clearance rules?  I've had issues when using imperial trace/space settings and metric grid and traces placed in "hug obstacles" mode.  I suspect it's some sort of rounding error that causes Altium to think that there's a DRC violation when you're trying to move a trace, even though DRC says it's okay (because it actually is).  On the same project I also had problems when moving a group of traces all at once suddenly had DRC violations, even though the spacing between them shouldn't have changed at all.

Could also be a problem with snap settings, where the next place the tracks want to snap to would cause a DRC violation, so Altium won't let them go there, leaving them stuck in place.  Maybe try a smaller snap grid.

One more basic thing, is the layer the tracks are on active?

Yep definitly on the active layer.

I will check the metric/imperial issue.

TH pads can't be moved if they are connected to a trace.
Free pads always move fine.
