PCB footprint for a dome switch
« on: February 13, 2021, 11:03:56 pm »
Can anyone explain how to create a footprint for a dome switch in DXP 2004?  Is there a component for this?
Thanks,
Dennis

It's the same as creating a footprint for any other component.  Have you looked at any of the wide range of library creation tutorials that are out there?  Where are you getting stuck?

If you are refering to making pad shapes that are not circular or rectangular in nature, you can use fills/regions.

Draw the shape you want and then place a small pad within the shape on the same layer. During layout you may need to update primitives from connected nets (shortcut combo d -> n -> u)

Find the switch in mouser and select one with 3D model and layout. It is the easiest way.
