Custom Mouse Shortcuts
« on: March 12, 2014, 10:31:41 pm »
Hi All,

I just got (convinced them to get me) a new Logitech M705 Mouse. It's pretty nice and fits me well and it has some neat features.

Since it has an extra 5 buttons, I'd like to customize it to do some special things in Altium. I've already figured out how to make it place wire by assigning place-wire to "W" and then assigning one of the custom keys to "W". But what I'd really like is a little more complicated. I want a button to place, for example, a standard resistor out of our company library. Since they're out of the library and not in one of the menus, I can't figure out how to assign a shortcut key to it.

Any idea how to assign a custom key to a specific library part? This would really help out my productivity. (And since I have to redraw a lost schematic, I could really use it!)

Thanks!

I think you will have to create a script that selects and places that component from the relevant library, and that script could then be linked to your button, maybe via a shortcut or something. No idea how to do it though.
