How can I customize the help panel ?
« on: April 03, 2021, 09:28:37 pm »
Hello, I'm new to Altium designer. I need x and y coordinates while drawing. There are these coordinates at the bottom. However, after 1 second, it starts showing keyboard shortcuts in this section. How can I make x and y coordinates constant in this section. I want to turn off keyboard shortcuts helper. Thank you

Which version are you on? Also, is that the symbol editor window?

That bar along the bottom is called the "status bar" if that helps with googling, unfortunately, I don't think it is editable (I may be wrong). In version 21.1.1 the coordinates are on the left-hand side of that bar and don't disappear for any reason.

If you are concerned with placing the line/wire at a known position, you can draw it to some arbitrary shape and then edit the XY data in the "properties" panel. You can invoke the properties panel (if it's not already visible) from the "panels" button on the right-hand side of the status bar.

My preferences for drawing with fixed coordinates in PCB:

(1) If possible, just set the grid spacing to match requirements and use that.

(2) Otherwise, use Edit > Jump > Jump New Location (hotkey J L) and type in coordinates.

(3) Last resort, for more complex shapes, use some MCAD software to create a DXF and import that to altium. I use SolidEdge 2D (free with registration)

But just realised you are in schematic editor. Jump still applies. But, hmmm, not sure what you are trying to achieve.
