Can't define a board shape in Altium!!!
« on: December 29, 2014, 01:51:23 am »
After I'm done routing the board I selected Mechanical layer 1 and draw a closed rectangle around my design. Selected Design -> Board Shape -> Define from selected objects and it worked as expected. I played with the layout some more and could shrink the board a bit. I drew another outer boarded and did the same menu selection followed by a notice from the software (in the attached file). I tried to re-draw the box again and again with no use and I can see it is closed. What do to?

Closed doesn't mean overlapping (like flood fill in a painting program) it means the tracks are physically joined.

When you grab and move each track intersection with the mouse both ends should stay joined (with new tracks appearing as needed). None of them should come apart when you drag.

Maybe find the two ends it is talking about, using the X/Y given, then change one of the ends to match exactly the X/Y of the other. You might find one is 4.3 and the other is 4.299999 etc..

Got stuck on this too years ago.
There must be a simple workaround, but I have not stumbled on it.

So now I set it up at the start using the PCB Wizard.

You can also select "move board vertices" and then change the shape manually by dragging each vertex around and/or adding new ones.

However sometimes it just wont let you pickup the vertexes. It's something to do with the current mouse state when you click.
I did figure out what it was, but i cant remember.
