Single BOM for multiple projects
« on: November 25, 2014, 10:09:59 pm »
Hi,
I am working on a project consisting of multiple boards. Is there a way to generate a single BOM for multiple projects or do I have to go through them manually?
Thanks

The only way I know atm is to create a new composite project with a master sheet containing sheet symbols for all your other schematics. You can then generate a BOM from this, but if you have multiple copies of a particular schematic sheet on your master, it only includes the parts from one of these sheets for the BOM, which seems like a bug to me. I'm currently searching for a solution to this.

Try using hierarchical sheet symbols?  Then you can instantiate repeated sheets.

Have fun with the net errors on that project; you can probably (and probably should..) turn off basically everything (errors, netlist compile, PCB transfer..) in such a project so it does exactly what it's supposed to do and nothing else.

Not something I've done / had to do, but a neat idea.  One rub: if you have assembly variants in the main project, those are project-specific settings and won't follow the sheets (of course).
