Altium Evaluation License Issue
« on: October 25, 2019, 02:34:17 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I recently downloaded the trial version of Altium Designer 19 at work (I'm an intern). I'm pretty sure someone who used the computer before me also used an Evaluation License, so when I tried to log into my account and activate the license, it showed an error message that says something like, "You can only use one evaluation license on a single PC".

How can I circumvent this? Will wiping the machine solve the issue? Or is the license somehow bound to the computer hardware?

Thanks

Bost likely tied to mac address.
But .. eval licences are not to be used to do real work ...

I know, I'm using it for the first to accustom myself with it before we get commercial licenses.

Does that mean I can use my evaluation license if I spoof the MAC address ?

Try it. If it doesn't work you could try a VM too.

That or see if Altium is willing to send you a second less-restrictive license for that PC.

Contact Altium (be prepared for a sales pitch lmao).

They are not interested in withholding Eval Licences from Potential Customers.

Back in the Day I tried a Eval Licence before getting my first Job and they would not stop trying to contact me for weeks to sell me a Licence.  :palm:

Definitely contact sales. It wouldn't work for me because I had done a CircuitStudio evaluation and their system was tripping up saying I'd already done it.

Within 24 hours sales had emailed me the download and set up my account with everything required
