Want to learn ALTIUM where to start?

Hello. I am a mechatronics studen from Perú and want to lear to use Altium Designer. At school, they have taught me Proteus (ISIS, ARES) and have fairly good experience with it but I don't like the software and I am trying to migrate to Altium. Does any one have recomended books, tutorial, videos on youtube or blogs to start learning?

I learned using Altium's extensive Help PDF documentation. I was "under the gun" to complete a design that was started in Protel98 and Eagle (at the time) couldn't import anything useful. I suppose you could say I work best under pressure.

There are also a few nice tutorials and time lapse videos in YouTube. Search for users: jimarcin, szymonzawiercie, tesla500, Robert Feranec, flodins, antoker.

The only thing i find a bit weird in altium is multi selecting objects with the mouse.

You CTRL-click them as you would expect but then have to "double click" on the final one to get the properties popup where you can change settings all at once.

If you hope on somebody who can show you "How to Altium" you will be very disappointed. There will be nobody who knows everything about it and Altium has too many ways to do one thing.

1st register for a guided introduction "Live webinar" on their website, this is free and happens every week. You are connected via webseminar to an Altium engineer who gives you an 2h introduction. You can also ask questions during. This is very very helpful if you never worked with Altium

Click on register and input your details. Half an hour before the Webinar starts, you get an email with the link to it.

2nd watch all the training videos on their website. ("Hello, Marty here!"). Every video is short and focussed on one topic.

3rd Read the Getting Started Part of the Wiki

Next thing, download the Tutorial and work it through

After all that, the Altium Wiki is your friend. It is very well structured and even gives you hints.

After that, there are hundreds of tutorials on Youtube.

And after all that, you probably have to ask your company for a 3-day-course which is about 1500 $. (does not apply to you)
Also you might be able to squeeze a few infos from your local sales rep. The Altuim Support is very comprehensive and if you ask right he will give you the info you need and not be trying to sell you a seminar.
