Any Amp Hour or EEVBlog aficionados looking for a job?
« on: September 22, 2013, 08:14:53 pm »
Hello all!
I've been lurking on the forums for a while now, and have been an Amp Hour listener for the last year or so. I'm an electrical engineer working at a startup in California focused on creating a development platform for unmanned aircraft (drones, if you must). We're called Airware (www.airware.com) and are currently based in San Francisco and Newport Beach, California. We graduated Y Combinator in the Winter 2013 class, and have since raised venture funding from Andreessen Horowitz and Google Ventures. With that funding, we're rapidly expanding our team and have a need to hire some exceptionally talented Electrical Engineers and PCB Layout folks. Without getting too spammy, I wanted to let this community know of the opportunities as I know the caliber of Chris and Dave's listener-base.

The details of the jobs are as follow (full details on our careers website http://www.airware.com/careers/ or at the links below):

Electrical Engineer - Hardware:
Full details and apply here: http://jobvite.com/m?3BDD4gwG
- Design the next generation of our autopilot development platform hardware and accessory electronics
- Assist customers and our internal R&D team with electrical integration of our hardware onto a variety of aircraft
- 5+ years of experience designing mixed-signal electronics and microcontroller-based designs

PCB Layout Engineer:
Full details and apply here: http://jobvite.com/m?3SDD4gwX
- Perform all aspects of PCB design work (design reviews, placement, routing, assy/fab drawings,  vendor interactions, etc.)
- Responsible for  design for EMI/EMC, thermal considerations, mechanical reliability
- 5+ years of experience using Altium Designer

Both positions are available in either our San Francisco or Newport Beach offices. If you have any questions about the jobs, about Airware, or about what I do, message me here or email me at russery [at] airware [dot] com.

Cheers,
Robert

I was a bit reluctant to spam the main forums, but is there a good place for it? Perhaps Buy/Sell/Wanted?

Hahaha! How much for that engineer in the window?! ;D
I was thinking more along the lines of "Wanted: dead or alive"... But seriously, we'll *pay* you to do play with UAVs all day! Oh, and there's free lunch and unlimited espresso - startup life at its best.

BTW, we mentioned this on the latest AmpHour.
Keep us updated (privately if you like) if you get someone from here, and/or how many resumes you get! We've found that the AmpHour has been quite sucessful at this, and have several success stories so far.

I'd join if you could use someone with 1.5yrs product management experience in the consumer electronics field. Just let me finish whupping my competition's butt first, shouldn't take more than a few months more.   :box:

Thanks for the mention, Dave!  :-+ I'm listening to the podcast as we speak and about jumped out of my chair when I heard the mention. Those links I posted track how many people click through and apply from here, so I'll let you know what kind of traffic it gets!

5 years required.... 3 years required... what is it :)

That requirement is a bit flexible - we're just looking for people who aren't totally wet behind the ears.

For the EE-Hardware job, we're looking for someone with a broad exposure to electrical design and manufacturing, so we want someone with a few more years under their belt.

For the PCB Layout job, we want someone who's been focused just on board layout and routing with Altium so the experience requirement is a bit lower, as long as they have the strong focus on PCBs.

Well, I applied. I would love to move to the West Coast.

I spoke with Chris Gammell at Bolt.io and Artisan's Asylum during the OSHW summit.
Maybe I can get him to put in a good word for me?

Here's hoping.
