I wouldn't ask for this directly on the site, but are there guests that people would be interested in hearing on The Amp Hour? I think I might finally have my rig figured out to the point where I can reliably record those who are calling in.

So, who would you like to hear on the show? And why?

Please, no self nominations, even if just trying to be silly.

What are our options? E.g. I would love to hear RMS. Is it possible? Limited only to EE related?

I'd never nominate myself anyway. Other than not owning a microphone I absolutely hate listening to my own voice which would mean I couldn't listen to that week's Amp Hour! How about Amanda Wozniak? Limor would be a good choice, but we get an hour of her every week anyway.

Of course the ideal show would have the Engineer's Engineers on, Mosfet and Darlington. But I can't speak cat language so that probably wouldn't work so well.

As long as we're talking about Woz's, how about Steve Wozniak?

I'd like to talk electronics with the person (i.e. pull them into the usual banter about the weeks' stories). If we have to talk about that person the whole time, it'll be quite different from how we usually do the show (basically because we can't focus on anything...but I like that).

Also, I don't know what you mean by RMS, unless it's Root Mean Square.

Ok, got it.

R.M.S. was just an example from computer software industry (not an EE).

I'd like to hear from the engineering teams of various products.  Chip designers, the teams on test & measurement gear from Fluke, Agilent, Gossen, Rigol, etc., what were the challenges, the pit fall, the deadlines, what is it like designing equipment in huge organizations.

Then I'd like to hear from designers who work in smaller companies, and contrast their products and work life.
Best Wishes,

 Saturation

As Chris said, I think they really have to be people who can/will contribute to the banter of show as a co-host, else they are really just an "interview" type segment (which would of course be interesting, but it's a different ball game).

Dave.

It will also be interesting to hear someone from military and/or aerospace industry. A friend of yours perhaps.

Hold the occasional lottery of all the forum members, and whoever's chosen gets to be a guest on the show. :) If someone refuses, just draw someone else.

Hey Chris,

I would like to request the guy from Afrotech Mods.(sorry,I don't remember his name)

He has really good tutorials, but he is funny and enjOyable to listen to. I think he would fit in with the normal banter.

@mikeselectricstuff I recommend you!

you seem to have a very interesting LAB and do some interesting projects in it. You always seem to jump in on some of these posts here with just the sensible answers. Get one theAmpHour and talk about what you do. I would find that interesting!

Oh and your guide for making Homebrew PCB'c. That got me started making my own. thanks for that.

I'll talk to Jack next month, hopefully will see him at ESC. Bob might be there too. I plan on asking a lot of people at the conference if they want to be on The Amp Hour sometime.

I was also telling Dave last night, I would love to get Randall Munroe on the show. Of course xkcd is the reason I think he's brilliant, but the dude seems like a pretty legit nerd too! http://blog.xkcd.com/2010/11/05/submarines/ Would have to a.) Find him and b.) see if he could hang with the electronics shop talk

Long time EEVblog watcher - AmpHour Listener and first time forum poster now!

Well I think i would make an interesting guest <not that it sounds arrogant or anything..lol>

I am a final year undergrad electrical engineering student from Melbourne, Australia. I am doing a final year thesis project on the Bionic Eye and looking for a job at the end of the year. I hope coming on the blog might help with that ;)

Might make a good blog talking about career advice etc. as well.
Dave i read on a survey you did a while back that 22% of your viewers are engineering students...where's the love mate?

I'll "third" Bob Pease and Forrest Mims as well as add:

Kiriokos - fellow meter guy and Agilent Reviewer
Doug Ford, from your earlier "meter destruction" blogs to discuss HV and the non-meter destruction uses for that HV equipment.
Not they he'd do it, or that you'd have him, but that guy who does the crazy experiments on youtube (washer desctruction man?)  OK, maybe not....

Ed Nisley.

He is one of my engineering heros. He has written articles for Circuit Cellar
for more than 23 years and also had an monthly column in Dr Dobb's Journal
from 2000-2006 on embedded stuff.

There seems to be nothing in the field of electrical engineering he knows nothing about.
Analog, digital, RF (he is a ham), optics, robotics, CNC manufacturing, microcontrollers, etc.
He is also a promoter of open-source soft- and hardware.

Here is a list of his Circuit Cellar articles: http://www.dtweed.com/circuitcellar/xnisleye.htm
If you go to drdobbs.com, type in "Ed Nisley" in the search field to find his old columns.

He has his own blog, The Smell Of Molten Projects In The Morning (http://softsolder.com/),
with tons of stuff on CNC/3D Printing, Arduino(!), etc.

So, who would you like to hear on the show? And why?
Don  Lancaster

His web page http://www.tinaja.com bio http://www.tinaja.com/glib/waywere.pdf

I have been reading his webpage for so many years.

One eksample is his Magic Sinewaves http://www.tinaja.com/glib/msintro1.pdf

Or just take a pic from herehttp://www.tinaja.com/eeweb01.asp

But if you cant get him or dont want to have him on the show. Then I hope you and Dave will talk about the Magic Sinewaves on the show !

And then I'll take this opportunity to say thanks for the broadcasts that have already been made??. It's the best hour in the week and if you continue the same style I promise to continue listening to them :-) Thanks
