I want to say it's an April fools joke....but I can't find the punch line.

What if it's not a joke?

Note different timezones, half of this video can be a joke, but the other half can be true. Just which is which? :P

Considering Dave is based in Sydney, the date the video was released is 1/04/2012. So it has been released on April Fools Day.

The big question is, is it a joke or is it real?

Given the release date, I am questioning it. ::)

I would like to be proven wrong tho.

That's April 1st for our American friends, not January 4th.

Yeah, right! Not that I don't think they don't deserve it, but I feel something does not seem to fit...

Episode 88.5 launched at April's 1st, more details in the next episode, their enthusiasm does not seem proportional to the size of the news - dunno, but I would be screaming and jumping around...

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

I prefer 2012-04-01, but it just makes sense to go big to small.  :)  Small to big makes more sense then our Medium/Small/Large coding.  But then, so does metric.

That said, they hook, line and sinkered me.  I was working so much on Sunday, that I didn't even realize it was April Fools Day until about 10 PM, when I got on my computer and noticed why reporters are not comedians.   I was listening to The Amp Hour on my phone, then pulled down the video on my phone to see if they showed anything else.

I use yyyy-mm-dd format for spreadsheets and database entries. The format makes it easier to sort by date.
I use dd-mm-yyyy for 'Human' text. I dont understand why some people use mm-dd-yyyy format, can anyone explain this?

Maybe it was more convenient to know the month first for some reason for whoever first used it?
Kinda like how time is HH:MM, it's usually more convenient to know the hour first.
But with dates, given the long practical time scale, it's usually more convenient to know the day first, as the months don't change that often!

Dave.

I understand the use of DD:MM:YY and YY:MM:DD is useful for sorting files and the likes but MM:DD:YY is just off to me.
It's like using MM:HH:SS instead of HH:MM:SS, ascending or descending not this crazy mix.

I'm speculating that the MM:DD:YY is just a derivative of the oldskool verbal expression of dates, something like: "January the 24th, 1758. Not a soul was encountered on this blasted journey.".

Greetings EEVBees:
