4mA-20mA current loop sensor
(1/1)
roogadget:
I want to use a 4mA-20mA industrial sensor with a microcontroller.
Do these sensors output 4mA-20mA by default? Or do I need a transmitter to take the input (probably pwm) and convert that to 4-20. ?
NivagSwerdna:
which sensor?

Here is an example

I guess this answers my question.. it outputs 4mA-20mA
Zero999:
A simple 250R resistor will give 1V to 5V from the 4mA to 20mA range.

Indeed
The DS says... 4-20 mADC - 0 to 300 Ω (for some of the parts).... (0-5V for others)
So pick a resistor somewhere in that range https://www.omega.co.uk/techref/das/4-20ma.html has some info or if you want to get fancy... http://www.ti.com/product/rcv420
