6040z cnc macine
« on: July 26, 2016, 06:44:06 pm »
Hi chaps I received my 6040z cnc machine yesterday, I have coupled it to an old computer with no other programme except for Mach 3. I have followed the set up instructions I downloaded from a forum link, 2 problems arise, the first is that the Y and Z axis travel the wrong way, second the spindle motor will not operate using the Mach 3 test programme. I have set the parameters as per the instructions and have set up the emergency stop button which seems to be ok. can someone tell me how to change the direction of Y and Z and the spindle motor

I'm guessing that there is a software setting in Mach 3 that will reverse the motors, but I've never used mach 3, so I can't say.

However, you should be able to reverse the direction of the X and Y motors by reversing their polarity.  If your motors are bipolar, determine which pairs of wires go to each coil, and reverse each pair.

When you set the port/pin assignments there is a polarity setting as well.

Perhaps to help you and us it would be better if  the brand and model is known. It is strange you use a setup from a forum rather than the one the machine came with in the CD.

PS you can get proper help if you ask in a cnc forum. ;)

You have the step/direction control lines set incorrectly.  Go to the config tab and I can't remember if it is in General or Motor Tuning.  Also, there is a mach3 group on yahoo groups that is very active.
