Probably a v. simple question for many of you but what is the difference between 74HC04 vs 74VHC04 hex inverter. What's the "V" for ?

Also, what are your thoughts about the Potato Semi manuf of chips (get it: Potato chips!):

Their semis seem to be popular in the DIY audio and audiophile community.

V is for "very" as in "Very High speed Cmos". 3ns gate delay time vs 12ns for HC.
