Questions regarding IR2110, half bridge driver
« on: September 07, 2018, 08:57:53 pm »
For testing a solenoid I built a H bridge circuit made of 4x IRF540's
ANd I am driving each half brdige arm with a IR2110.

I have taken inspiration from this circuit diagram

Except that my Vdd = 5V and Vcc = 15V and I have ommited the

Currently I have kept IN2 open and and after pulsing the pin IN1 I was hoping for an output at the bridge but I don't get any.
I am not using PWM just triggering a 1ms pulse.

My question is can I use the IR2110 this triggered mode. From what I have heard is that the way this driver works is the lo side fet needs to be switched on to charge the bootstrap capacitor. And this works well in PWM driven circuits. Since the low side fet comes on regularly and charges the bootstrop capacitor.

To recharge the bootstrap capacitor in pulsed mode do I have to implement some additional logic so that its necessary lo side mosfet first eg. Q2 and then send the triggering pulse to switch on Q1 / Q4.
However my circuit is wired up like the diagram above with just 2 inputs.
