Aixun T400 or T420D
« on: March 07, 2025, 12:57:51 pm »

The time has come for me to purchase a soldering station. Now T400 is out. My plan was T420D with 3 handles.

At this point I'm confused, man.

Which one should I get, the T420D or T400?  :palm:

I'm leaning toward T420D. Sway me toward T400.

If you want AI voice control, gyro control, buttons on your iron handle, and docking station I guess. All of those sound incredibly dumb to me, but they might come out with an actually useful peripheral in the future. Maybe.

@thm_w what I want is a whole bunch of tips, highly available, and cheap -- just like T12/WQ. I did not see the tips for this handle, they suppose to be released. But I'm expecting just one manufacturer Aixun and will they be all that. This is why I'm leaning toward T420D. 3 handles, lots of tips, pretty good.

If I know that you can attach to T400 handles from T420D, I'd go ahead and buy it. But there is no such information at this point.  :palm:

Is there such information?

I have the T420D. It’s an awesome bit of kit. I use both Aixun and JBC  tips. You won’t regret it.

Yep, getting it. Also the Aixun H314 hot air.

I saw an Aixun handle on aliexpress for T12 tips. Assuming it won't work with T420D, but there isn't a reason to begin with. However, would be nice to get it and try making it work.

There is no point to this when T245 tips are <$3 each.

There is nowhere on there website that even claims it to be supported: https://www.aixuntech.com/product/t420d-200w-dual-channel-electronics-soldering-station-with-t245-handle/
