Alternatives to mains 'block connector' inside equipment?

Hi

I need to joint some 240V cables inside an enclosure - it's between the power switch and a transformer. For ease of assembly (and possibly disassembly!) I don't want to solder the transformer's cables directly to the switch.

I'm using this type of plastic covered 'block connector' screw terminal:

having cut off and screwed down a couple of 'units'.

It feels a bit 'bush league', but I can't off-hand think of a better way of doing it. What is there?

Check out these Wago connectors. Cheap, reusable, easy and much better than nasty type of screw terminals in the first picture.

There are matching boxes to contain these Wago connectors for weather proofing and connection strength.

Those terminals are quite standard, you'll find them used inside various appliances for mains wiring.

Thanks for the replies; in the first case, I had toyed with an 'in-line' spade connector, but I didn't really like the idea of the joint flapping around inside the enclosure unsecured.

Now those Wago connectors are cute. Without any scale, I assumed from the picture that they were large, but they're actually pretty small. Shame they don't have a provision to screw them down, like my 'nasty' connectors! Otherwise, they're rattling around inside the enclosure, looking for trouble.

IMHO your original cheap screw terminal connector is fine.
I use this method, but use "bootlace ferrules" on the cables so that the stranded copper doesn't get mashed...
