I made a relay with a snub diode to turn on my inverter. Unfortunately the relay draws 100ma current. I've heard of using mosfet based SSRs but the real ones are $80+. Looked at ebay but I know they are fakes, people have had serious trouble with under rating on the DC->AC parts... to the point of starting fires. The reviews for those are all over. Unfortunately not too many have used the DC to DC type. The 40A rated ones I see were supposedly 15A, no info on the 60 or 100A which could in theory be 30-40A or the same with a different label.
Are there any other alternatives to switching a large current with a small one in isolation? I'm more looking for a product and not cobbling discrete components together due to packaging (I know, booo! hisss!).
