Anti-interference shield purpose
« on: January 18, 2021, 03:56:21 pm »
Hi, I have smart screen with dual core 200Mhz CPU chip. The screen does not fit in tight spot slightly, so I want to remove anti-interference shield of CPU.

What is the purpose of this shield?
Does it protect only from other electronic components interference nearby or even from board components itself?
Is this shield only needed if its close to other electronic components? ~30cm away?

Faraday shield goes both ways.  EM field cannot get through from outside, and EM field cannot exit from inside. So...it could be both?

Touch screens can be quite sensitive to noise, and controllers require relatively high SNR to achieve accurate sensing. If you remove the shield, you should check that the reliability of the screen is still acceptable. Check with battery operation and with power adapter operation (if applicable).
