Anti static ?
« on: March 11, 2013, 07:35:49 pm »
Hey guys,

Today I got my Real Time Clock ICs in the mail and they came in the anti static foam wrapped in Saran Wrap. I'm wondering if wrapping the thing up defeats the purpose of the foam.

the inside of the package itself was lined with bubblewrap as well
but there is a good chance I'm wrong.

So far I got shipped only a few items with this technique from ebay. Never gave me any problems.
Mostly they ship it to me withouth any type of antistatic foam etc. And also those come in undamaged. I even once had atmega's shipped packaged by pushing them in a piece of carton.
Davd has a vid about this and its that ping stuf which doesn't generate static, but wont block it so I will have to answer NO.
