Apologies for Wasting Bandwidth -
bson:
I keep a linode instance for all kinds of static files and random experiments. I used to use it for mail, DNS, VPN, and all sorts of things in the past, but these days mail is hosted by google (G Suite), for DNS I use AWS Route 53, for VPN I buy it by the month whenever I need it for travel (I currently use NordVPN), repos are on github, haven't used svn in almost 10 years, and so on. Actually, just checked the pricing of S3 and for my needs it'll cost me a fraction of linode (I only need about 5GB), so I think I'll look into migrating and just fire up a suitable EC2 RH/CentOS instance whenever I want to experiment with something. Which is like five times a year or so. It's a bit overkill to run Apache and a Linux instance for static content serving when an object store like S3 is sufficient. For my needs even CloudFront would add up to $.50 per month or something. (I think my R53 bill is 73c per month. :))
