There are also ones designed to connect to 0.050" ribbon cables.

Thank you. Those have machined pins. I am talking flat slots, so the header would have flat pins like a PDIP.

They do exist but are pretty rare.
You might have more luck getting an insulation displacement plug for ribbon cable to DIP socket, and removing the top.
