Advice on setting up a beginners lab.
« on: January 21, 2017, 10:25:11 pm »
Hi All looking for some feedback on my first serious stab at beginners lab setup for my very very small apartment so multi function and size is an issue.

Primary stuff I want to focus on is security focused like interfacing to I2C, SPI, CAN and RS232 and various audio/rf related projects, you know simple circuits.

What I have so far
- Hantek DSO1060 Handheld Digital Scope 60 MHz
- Tektronix DMM912 Multimeter
- TENMA 72-10495 PSU 2CH, 30V, 5A, Adj
- HAKKO FX-888D Soldering Station
- HackRF One.
- Raspberry Pi 3.

One of the last things is a logic analyzer with I2C, SPI, CAN and RS232 decode. So was thinking of this one "Hantek LA5034 34CH 500MHz USB PC Digital Virtual Logic Analyzer" but am having problems deciding.

If you want to dip a toe in the water, you could pick up one of those cheap 8 bit USB logic analysers on ebay and use it with open source Sigrok Pulseview. It would get you I2C, SPI, CAN and RS232 for virtually no cost.
Best Regards, Chris
