Title: Automotive oscilloscope test leads question

Can I use 50 Ohm co-ax to make my own (much cheaper) 100MHz scope probe extension leads similar to these please/

Most of my work is looking at real time signal from things like ABS (wheel speed sensors), both analogue and digital where I need a long lead to reach from within a vehicle to underneath, for a laptop connected USB scope. Thanks.

I don't know what kind of bandwidth you really need but I have managed fine with coax of any kind or even twisted pair. Heck, I am sending base band video over twisted pair right now with fine results. I think it's when you are up into hundreds of MHz and longer distances that you need to start being more careful. A length of coax or CAT5 should work well, I think.

OK, thanks, as my twisted pair stuff (CAT cable) is solid core and as coax seems easier to terminate in BNC I'll try some RG-58, much appreciated.
