What's this blue TOYOCOM box?
« on: November 07, 2013, 11:41:06 pm »
I found 2 old but functioning Furuno LC-90 Loran C units in a dumpster a while ago. I removed a big blue plastic box from one of the circuit boards (boy this thing is stuffed with through hole parts tighter than anything I've ever disassembled). I have no use for it but I've salvaged some useful parts from it.
It's says 100-BPF3 E-121 TOYOCOM
What is it? I can't find anything online. It's just a box full of capacitors and what looks like inductors that have had the tops filled with glue with 4 legs coming out the bottom.

The blue box is a band pass filter. I'm not sure about the frequency but it could be the 130MHz band.

LORAN-C is 100 kHz, so the number 100 would point to that, as do the rather large caps. So it's a 100kHz bandpass filter.

Yep, 100kHz makes perfectly sense.

I see. 100 is 100kHz and BPF stands for BandPass Filter.

LORAN-C is 100 kHz, so the number 100 would point to that, as do the rather large caps. So it's a 100kHz bandpass filter.
