Best place to store magnetizers?
(1/1)
AnyNameWillDo:
So I have a couple magnetizer/demagnetizers and I'm not entirely sure where to put them. They contain pretty strong magnets and I don't want to store them somewhere where they might have a persistent magnetic effect and cause damage to equipment or components around them.

Where do you store yours?
JS:
Stick it to the door frame, high up and you should be fine. There aren't a lot of things that are damaged by magmets... Mainly magnetic storage devices I would say, credit cards are the most sensitive ones hence high up in the door frame, away from your pokets or bags when going in and out. In any case, in years working with audio, moving strong speakers very close to my body I've seen only a few damaged cards in my pocket, two or three at most.

Sadly does not appear to stick to my door frame; is it a terrible idea to put them near each other or in a shelf somewhere?
JS:
No, it's not a problem at all, just don't jeep it right next to where some sensitive rhing might go someday or something you don't want to be magnetized. Like magnetized screws are a pain... Then don't put them in a shelve right next to your desk where yo might leave your wallet while working. The field doesn't go too far, so if you have a big shlveing storage and you can stick to the structure not so close to either shelve you are pretty safe as well.

I haven't seen people having too much care with those, just don't do anthing stupid with them, your wallet or HDD and you will be fine.

You could stick them to the refrigerator, that's where all the magnets in my house seem to collect.
