BIG HAUL

(1/1)

codingwithethanol:
I work at a radio station at my college, and I just dropped by today and found a HUGE pile of old audio equipment, odds and ends and whatnot, so I thought id share some photos. Also a question regarding the thing in the first picture, what the fuck is it? Looks like a giant capacitor with multiple leads, not sure how to even go about finding info on it. It was housed in a metal box thing with a very nondescript schematic inside, connected to two other capacitors. If anybody here has knowledge of audio equip, i'd love to know more.

That isn't a capacitor.  It's a transformer.  There should be a name and part number on it somewhere.

Most of the rest well it's anyone's guess.  Miscellaneous circuits.  The thing with all the knobs might be an audio mixer but I can't tell without seeing more of it.

But the last picture is of a cordless soldering iron, very nice.  I have always wanted one but could never justify buying.

Yeah the bulk of what I found was old pots and specially designed selector switches. The construction of the majority of the parts is very robust and serviceable, as well as aesthetically pleasing. The Iso-Tip is one of the gems of the haul, I actually have to go back tomorrow and see if I can find the tips. Also I found a ton of old-school resistors, far better than those chinese Ebay ones that bend into pretzels if you try to breadboard them! Most of the IC's are Op-Amps and voltage regulators, specifically designed for audio applications.
