Title: Bluetooth audio
Post by: paulca on February 11, 2018, 11:02:06 am
Can anyone give me the cliff notes version of how to handle bluetooth audio?

My research suggests the following:

All in one boards which have the full BT receiver chip, MCU, DAC and DSP with audio in and out, plus control switch inputs on the board.

However, if I wanted to go down a level the bluetooth ICs all seem to just stream serial data vua UART or SPI.  How complex is interfacing that with a DAC on one side and how complex is getting it to work with, say, an Android device as an audio player?  Is it worth attempting over just using one of the full, all in one, boards?

Has anyone any experience of these boards that could suggest one they know works well?  Ideally I would like to live without the connector hardware being on the board.  ie.  a bare board without 3.5mm jacks etc.

you have boards of all kind, and they output : uart, analog audio, digital audio or even spdif.
sometimes, they CAN output digital signals, but you need to enable these outputs on the board, with a dedicated programming interface and software.
just read carefully the board description for what you need, and you can find one ready made.
