Boost-Buck Converters and a reference pin
(1/1)
roogadget:
I have spent a great amount of time looking for a buck boost converter that outputs 12V.
Turns out it requires an external reference of 5V for the PG pin.
Do these regulators always require a reference?
It seems odd to a beginner (me) that it would require an additional regulator just to use one.

From the data sheet:
--- Quote ---PS 7 I D Logic-level input signal to enable and disable low-power mode. The power mode is low-power mode when this pin is high (1) and is normal mode when this pin is low (1).
--- End quote ---
So seems to me that if you're not interested in low-power mode, you can just tie that pin to ground.

PG 15 O D
Output power good pin. This pin is an open-drain pin. The status of the power-good output is good
when this pin is high (1) and has a failure when this pin is low (0)
If you don't need PGOOD, just ignore that pin.

Man I need to learn to double-check things when posting before breakfast...
