Calculations for ESC - Resistor Divider Network
« on: September 07, 2019, 09:47:40 am »
I am curious as to the calculations behind this:
https://simple-circuit.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/pic16f887-brushless-motor-controller-esc.png

(See Capture.png)

Example; If the MCU works on 3.3V;
1 - Till what value of the Motor Battery Voltage is this resistor divider good.
(Do we just take into account ex: R1 and R6 as voltage dividers to calculate the output voltage of the divider for BEMF sensing?)

2 - Alternatively; if I want to run the motor at a higher voltage; which part of the voltage divider do I change ?
(Is it okay to add a Diode to Vdd (MCU) to limit any potential damage to the MCU from higher voltages)

3 - What would happen if R7;R8;R9 were reduced to 10K ?

Thanks!
