can somebody identify this pcb connector?

A&D EW-12Ki triple range electronic scale.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/pN6ss3HWMQVRS6ru5

Optional NiMH battery fits in this cavity probably 6 cells costs USD160, lasts all day. I only need to run on 9V PP3 NiMH at home for occasional use. Connector d-recess measures 30x4mm. Pin pitch about 2.5mm. 10 conductors. Have looked far and wide (google, RS, TE, Molex, Monotaro) and can't find what this connector is. Surely it is off the shelf.

Anybody know????

I'm guessing this is some obscure part made locally by an A and D supplier in Japan to prevent knockoff batteries from being easily manufactured for their balances.

The manufacturer sells a mains adapter which you can use.

I am guessing even though it has ten pins in reality it is just two contacts for the battery. Right?

The male connector in the photo is the battery or the device?

Are you looking for a male or a female?

In any case, if it is just one off, you could probably make it.

...

Yes just find that AC adapter connector spec and power the connector with a battery.

came with mains multivoltage adapter. for in the kitchen, prefer to keep put away and use small battery. scale is male, battery female. pic is inside of battery recess. pin1 gnd, pin2 +7-10v.  connected flat 9v to dc power in socket and scale registered "low battery". so i'm guessing the oem battery has the charging circuitry inside.

was hoping to plug my 9v battery holder to the connector rather than soldering to main pcb. but if i can't source a proper connector, that soldering polarised connectors would be better than using single female 1.2mm female spades if they exist.

So if this is a proprietary thing, maybe I can get this molex product to mate ok.....pretty cheap.

Molex Board-in connector.

Those remind me of the old AT motherboard connectors of which I have a few probably in the junk stack. I wonder if they would fit. You might find some old connector you could try without needing to buy one.

Why bother trying to find a weird connector, when you can just solder a 9V snap connector to the PCB?
Then when you don't want to use a 9v battery, snip the wires off...

because its a precision instrument with a warranty. i stick to "do it right, do it once." my custom projects and repairs don't come back to bite me.

If that's the case its best to buy the OEM battery.  A DIY battery constructed with the right connector won't save you from warranty issues.

^^^^ this.

Looking at the scale's product page found the AC adapter model number, and googling that found an image of it. It's 7.5V at 500mA (which I suspect is far more than the scale needs), so you could easily just wire up a barrel plug to a 5-cell battery holder (e.g. AA or AAA) and run it off the AC adapter input.

All good. Molex Board-In connector has same shape and pitch. Scale is actually happy running off 7.5-10V DC as per markings on rear case. 9V battery holder fitted in the battery recess behind the battery cover, working fine.
