Can you help me figure out what this component is?
cncman:
Hi all,
Newbie question. I need to replace a broken component from a momentary remote push button. The component has a dark (chocolate) brown case, looks like a resistor, measures 200 Ohm across the leads, and has a color code that doesn't match the resistor chart. Red, Black, Brown, Red, then a wider White band.
Thanks for the help,
Ben
Buriedcode:
A picture would be helpful. The colours red, black, brown do indicate 200ohms (2, 0, 1*10 multiplier). And resistors do come in different case colours with brown being common in slightly older equipment.
So I'll say 90% sure its a 200ohm resistor, but the wattage depends on the size and to some extend to type (carbon, wirewound, metal film etc..).
With that said - how did you measure it if its broken? Was one of the leads broken or was it snapped in half?
cncman:
One of the leads is broken and not long enough for me to solder.

I hope these pics are good enough.

You are joking, right?
You could have cropped off 95% of each image. But it’s so blurry as to add absolutely nothing. Try again, using a better camera or better light, and crop before uploading.
