Parts Kits / Grab Bags
« on: March 08, 2014, 05:09:59 am »
I have always loved electronics and tinkering with stuff. As a kid I always took my toys and electronics apart to see how they worked.
Always wanted to get into the electronics field, but out of high school I ended up going for another passion which was cooking. Got a degree in that and worked for a long time. Just recently I decided I wanted to start learning more about electronics and started going to school.

Have always messed around with basic circuits, arduino, etc.. But lately I want to start tinkering more and more and make various circuits, see how they work, take it apart and do it again. But I need parts.. I managed to get my hands on some grab bags for resistors, diodes, capacitors, and various transistors.

Anyhow, long story short I am looking for a place that has good parts kits or grab bags, specifically for various IC's and other components.
I've looked at a place called Futurlec which seems to have a good variety of pieces in their kits for a really good price. But any review i've read seems bad for them.
If there aren't any other places that have good assortments of them, which ones would be best to get a few of to experiment with and where would be the best place?

Right now i am not looking for SMD stuff yet because don't have the boards to mess with that.

Anyhow, thanks in advance for the advice :)

It is a perennial issue that newbies (welcome  :) ) ask these questions and haven't updated their profile to include their country. If you do people will be able to suggest places in your country.

Thought I did that. Sorry.
It's updated now, I live in the USA
