Cannot program M27C001

I have seen this question on several sites but unfortunately no answers so hoping you guys can help. I have a TL866CS MiniPro universal programmer. I wish to re-program a M27C001 chip. I can successfully read the chip but the buttons to erase the chip are greyed out. Has anyone come across this problem?

I don't know the specific part, but it doesn't sound like a electrically erasable part. If it has a clear window you can UV erase it, otherwise it may be a one-time PROM.

Thanks CYR. I think you are right. I know it is re-programmable as we normally return them to the manufacturer to do this. It does have the window so suspect it needs to be UV erased.

Yes it is UV erasable. If such part is just in plastic case, not ceramic with window, then it is one time programmable.
