Donloading Episodes????
« on: August 30, 2011, 09:13:37 pm »
Hi,

Please be kind as this is my first post here.

I am disabled and have to spend a lot of time in bed, I can't sit at the computer long enough to watch them, what I would like to do is to download and burn the episodes onto CD's so I can watch them on my personal DVD player when I am confined to bed and can learn and retain sanity :'(.

Two questions:-
1/. Would this be allowed?
2/. How could I do it as my Real Player doesn't seem to like it?

Kindest regards

Sir Kit Bord

Hi friend , if you follow this link http://www.eevblog.com/episodes/
And you click to open a episode ( title in text)  in a new window, under the video window at the right,
you will see the word download in blue color.
Click on it , and the download will start.

If you wish the highest resolution, there is another way too.
click on the Youtube sign on the video screen ( watch on youtube) .
Copy the direct link, and use this software so to download it for you. http://www.youtubedownloaderhd.com/

Programs like VLC player can be used to view the files once downloaded - easy to use too.  :)

All the podcast episodes are here:
http://www.eevblog.org/video/

But they are only 480x270, designed for iPhones etc.
The full res version are only available on Youtube. I think there are programs available that can "scrape" the videos from a channel?

Dave.

I have to spend a lot of time with my back supported so I keep my PC next to the bed.
24" screen at just over arms length makes good viewing, better than my TV ;)

In FireFox I use downloadhelper to "Rip" videos that I want to keep.
I often then separate the music from a video using video to audio converter software.
It's great for getting the sound from old TV performances.

Just at this instant their home page is down but you can get it from CNET

Same here; I also just jdownloader.  I usually watch the eevblog episodes when I have downtime on in my car; most of the time I listen to the audio while driving then glance at the video as needed.

I also use the "download helper" add-on for Firefox - it works well, but I'm sure the other programs mentioned also work well.  Use what you like.

Does it help Dave out to watch the videos directly from Yo-Tube if possible?  (I know for some, it is not.)  I'd like to help Dave out when I can - if my internet is working, there's no different for me.
