Cheap ESD Flooring
« on: June 12, 2018, 06:06:52 pm »
Hello,
We need ESD flooring for our electronics assembly lab.
We will use these ESD floor tiles, they have a resistance of 100 billion ohms per metre^2...

...so we will put loads of strips of conductive tape beneath them and earth those.

Please could you help review this?..it is as in the attached document

This may help answer your questions:

https://www.staticworx.com/articles/the_basics_of_esd_floors.php

How is it being used (heel clips and conductive shoes?  civvies?), and can it effectively be grounded from the back?

What is your sensitivity?  Can you handle higher risk (e.g. 1kV risk), or are you dealing with sensitive (a few hundred volts) or very sensitive parts (a few tens of volts - probably not, unless you are wire-bonding)?

There are some resources at Desco, the ESD Association, and others, including the ESDA article reproduced in a magazine linked below
