Silly question but what's the cheapest ESP32/ESP8266 competitor with built in WiFi support? I'm currently playing around with ESP32s and ESP8266s and I was wondering what else is in this space. I should trawl through the various STMs to see what they offer. I know I could buy a separate WiFi module and connect it to pretty much anything.

Apparently my collection of ESP32s and ESP8266s are currently wired up to projects on hold and I'm too lazy to record their pin diagrams and disconnect them!  ;D

Probably not going to find much cheaper than the $3 or so for the ESP32.

Indeed. The other module family I know (Wilink) is quite more powerful but much more expensive.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

Thanks all. I'll stick with ESP8266s and ESP32s due to familiarity.

It's a different animal, but the Raspberry Pi Zero W is pretty nifty at $10.

It can't be beat when you actually need the HDMI output.
There used to be a in-store promo for $5 (1 per visit) and I managed to collect a lifetime supply.
