I am wiring up my granny flat and shed with 15 Amp sockets 1) for oven in granny flat and 2)socket in shed for plasma cutter/welder and compressor, can I get a switch that will switch one circuit off and the other on?

Welcome to the forum terryBW,

Sorry to say it, but it sounds like you're bodging it.

- UK sockets are 13A, not 15A.
- Cooker circuits are normally 30A, wired as a 6mm2 radial circuit.
- You would normally (always) run a separate circuit from the consumer unit to an outbuilding.

I don't know of any standard changeover switches capable of handling a cooker circuit - double pole isolators, sure (also used for electric showers) but not changeover.

You need to provide more information on what you are trying to do to get meaningful answers.... Location of the granny flat, shed relative to the house etc. A diagram would help.

Needless to say safety and adhering to wiring regs is the utmost priority, especially if you have a Granny in the granny flat.

There pretty common in the world of back up supply's,for example https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Distribution_and_Switchgear_Index/Change_Over_Switches/index.html#Change_Over_Switches_CGCS1004P  however for the cost you could do the job properly
