Clear lacquer over LED strips

I've made some christmas decorations out of LED strips soldered together and want to know if I can just dunk them into lacquer and let them dry or is the lacquer too conductive?
These snowflakes are 22 square in so we wanted to just get enough to submerge them, pull them out and let them dry then repeat a few times.
I see there is spray on electrical stuff but I'm worried it would not get all over without a bunch of effort.
Suggestions?

Canned conformal coating, spray, let dry, done, might have a slight yellow tint.
