connection of 2 psu in parallel?
(1/1)
nhouza:
Hi nice peepz, i have 2 of these power supplies that i want to connect in parallel since i have a 12VAC 1.5A.

descriprion: '' FC Power works from a 12VAC wallwart and provides ~500mA at +/-12V, ~100mA at 5V (optional). Dead simple to build and based on easily sourced and inexpensive parts. You can also choose to built it as a +/-15V supply with minor component changes.''

connecting 2 wires from the  wallart's positive to each psu positive  and 2 wires from wallart's negative to each psu negative is it correct? i'm having some troubles there and i'm not totally sure. :-//
thanks in advance!

You said 12VAC, so there's no positive or negative.

Connecting power supplies in parallel is generally not recommended, because it can cause issues with one power supply trying to inject power into the other. If they are two identical wall warts with an AC output, it should be possible to connect them in parallel, but they must be in phase, otherwise it will result in smoke. Connect one side together and measure the voltage between the other connections. It should read close to zero. If it's double the voltage, then reverse the connections to one of them and try again. Once the voltage is close to zero, the other sides can be connected together.

What exactly are you powering? Please post some schematics and/or provide links to datasheets and/or the place where you bought the equipment from.
