Title: Connector Manufacturer ?
Post by: idnihus on March 10, 2022, 01:26:11 am
Hi All,
First post on this forum.

Does anyone know who makes the board to board connectors that Yaesu use in their radios for connection of additional filters and also in the FT817 they are used on the Crystal oscillator board?

Cheers
Garry

Need a bigger picture, preferably with more angles, to even see what it looks like.

Hopefully these pictures give a better view of the connector.

It has a 2mm pitch.

I looked through the entire range of 2mm connectors from Samtech and cannot see anything that is even close.

I suspect they are from Japanese manufacturer as the Radio they are used in is Japanese. I have looked at everything that JRC make and it does not come from them.

Doesn't answer your question, but, it looks like a lot of sellers just use standard dupont style headers and mount it upside down.

You can get through board sockets if you want: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b00046739/ (https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b00046739/)

I have seen what the Chinese are doing. Looks like they are unable to work out who makes them  ;D

The 3M ones look like they might do what I need too bad the single row ones are EOL.

It took me just a few minutes on Digi-Key to find three parts in stock today (and a few more that aren’t). The Chinese are perfectly capable of finding bottom entry headers. The reason they use the regular headers instead is that they’re cheaper.

Are you absolutely sure they’re 2mm pitch, by the way?

Some people have an absolute knack for choosing the right terms to search for. I spent an hour looking at Farnell and couldn't find anything.
Looks like I don't have that knack, and thanks for your post, I am still none the wiser.

They are 100% 2 mm, measured with vernier calipers.

How are you “none the wiser”? I told you where I found some, and the exact name of the characteristic you’re looking for. You should be able to navigate to that site, get into the right category, and set the filters to include that property.

The key to finding this fast is to familiarize yourself with a vendor, then using their parametric search (filters) to find things. I recommend Digi-Key for this because they have the biggest selection but most importantly the best parametric search. Farnell probably does have a compatible part, but since their parametric search doesn’t include bottom entry capability, you can’t search for it.

So I’d use Digi-Key’s parametric search even if you plan on ordering elsewhere.

I’ve used Digi-Key’s site for a long time, so I am already familiar with how they’ve categorized connectors, so that helps me find stuff quickly.

Pitch: just double-checking because people often get the pitch wrong (e.g. by measuring the space between pins, rather than center-to-center).

You can find parts on digikey, get the part numbers and then look for those part numbers in your preferred stores, or sites like findchips.com

:-DD
Digi who? I live in Ostralya . We only have Element 14 and RS components here.
Are you stupid or just being an asshole to people who are trying to help you?

2. I said

I posted in the Beginners part of the forum. Maybe I should have posted it somewhere else?

Its the right spot, he needs to chill, regardless of your reading skills.

FYI, digikey will ship to AUS for $24, or free shipping over $60 orders.

Yep, it’s the right subforum, but that doesn’t mean being rude to people who are helping you. At some point, enough.

Here is another close up photo of the connector I am looking for.

Perhaps someone can recognise it and let me know who makes it.
