Title: Controlling 2HP Treadmill Motor?
Post by: electromateria on August 10, 2021, 04:22:02 am
I have a 2HP treadmill motor, the ESC board, as well as what I believe to be a board that controlled the led display unit.

How can I use the ESC to control the treadmill motor in the most simple way possible?

Is it safe to dispose of the LED display circuit board?

Is that cog looking thing on the back of the motor some kind of indexer?

I have a second ESC that came off a smaller treadmill that had a burnt motor. Is it useful to keep or is it generally programmed for only that specific motor model?

Do a Google search for information on re-powering small metal lathes and milling machines/drill presses. Treadmill motors are a popular choice for doing it on the cheap as they are plentiful. Many now use 3 phase motors with a VFD controller, but the DC treadmill motors were the most popular in the beginning, so there is information out there.
