Title: Daft Question : RE hearing devices
Post by: electroniceddy on May 28, 2020, 12:31:33 am
Hi all,

Just a quick daft question, are there any devices out there that can recieve sounds above the human range IE 20khz - 160khz and transform them to the human range so that one can hear them, If not is it possible to create something that would do that..

Really im looking for something like a radio, where i can tune the frequency into the device and listen to what was on that frequency?

Is it possible? and if so how would one go about this..

cheers
keith

Search for bat detectors.

This is realisable in a reasonably fast micro with a suitable internal or external ADC and DAC.  The Teensy dev boards (https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/) have a fairly extensive audio library which does all the hard work for you, and it's been done already (https://forum.pjrc.com/threads/38988-Bat-detector).
