RS232/Serial Port to Button

hello guys im still a newbie and wants to learn basic electronic skills.

would like to build my own DIY serial port to button that needs to be compatible with my modem..

i have tried resources from web on how to, but sad to say im still not able to meet my goal..

You'll more than likely need a microcontroller to do this, and the 'goto' solution for a newbie is likely the arduino (so start with the arduino forums).

If you're asking about creating an input from your serial port this is entirely possible, You can run a wire from the RTS pin through a switch and into the CTS pin then set the RTS pin high and when the button is pushed the CTS pin will go high, I actually use something like this in one of my projects. Just ask if this is what you're trying to do and want some more info.
