Denon dra cx3 amplifier
« on: October 17, 2024, 02:35:14 pm »
Hi to all the members, i am new here and i am searching for some help.
A couple of days ago i bought an amplifier from e-bay with a defekt.
It is a Denon Dra cx3.
The amplifier is not turning on, the power button when pushed is blinking and the screen stays alway off.
I know some basic stuff over electronics and i am interested on learning more by practicing on similar projects.
I am searching for some guidance and a way to approach this problem in order to learn and spend some good time trying to fix it .
So, from where do i start ?
Thank you all in advance.

begin by understanding the service manual for it, check voltages

https://audiocircuit.dk/downloads/denon/Denon-DRACX3-rec-sm.pdf

and sadly this unit use an already made power supply module,   find the brand and model ... try to find schematics ...

and for sure,   i hope you do realize that in this psu,   you'll have high voltages  ...

Being that small, is it a switch-mode PSU ? How heavy is the Denon ? SMPS's are usually a lot lighter.

I would remove the PCB's, and check all the voltage rails. Some of them might be deactivated, depending on the problem, maybe only standby power is running, and blinking the light.

But everything should power up in a certain order, so it might not get as far as running the display...or maybe the display has the problem. Do you have an oscilloscope ? That can really help, like for watching all the voltage rails on startup.
