| Dial for 3296W potentiometers |
| (1/2) > >> |
| JoeP:
I've bought a set of 3296W potentiometers for use in various electronics projects, however they aren't the easiest to turn. It seems obvious that they are intended to be used with a screwdriver, but I was wondering whether anyone's made a dial that just clips on? Thanks, Joe |

Unless you want to replace them with panel mount pots with counter dials at $$$ then what I do is use an alignment tool (see photo) designed to not slip off the tiny adjustment screw and use a Sharpie to place a mark on the tool so I can keep track of where I've turned the screw. |

That is a 10-turn trim pot. The photo shows the style with screwdriver adjust. Nobody makes after-market knobs for that style pot because there is not enough shaft to connect to. There are OTHER styles of trim pots with knobs. Here is a style with an extended, knurled shaft that can be turned with your fingers (or with a screwdriver). And here is a single-turn pot with built-in knob. |

Just for kicks, I drew this up and printed it. It works, but a screwdriver is probably a better solution. |

Nice one! I was thinking something like that would be possible. I've managed a much more crude solution - soldering the leg of a resistor into the groove. It works okay, but bends quite easily and isn't exactly the most comfortable to use. |
