Difference between two SRAMs

Hey guys,
I am not sure if this is the right board to ask this question but for one of my school projects I have to buy some SRAM chips and I stumbled upon 2 possible candidates.
I am not new to electronics and normally dont have any trouble with reading datasheets, even for rather complex parts.
My problem is that one of them is less expensive than the other one and I cant put my finger on why that would be.
SRAM 1:

The latter SRAM is less expensive, seems to have the exactly same packaging & specs and has ECC.
But the first one is, according to mouser, "newly released" - so how come they would release a "worse" SRAM for a higher price??
It would be really cool if you guys could let me know if I am missing something major here?

I don't trust very much the "new" moniker on Mouser:
The ECC SRAM's datasheet is dated 2011, the "new" SRAM's is dated 2009...
At a first look, they seem to have the same timings, the ECC one declared current consumption for 10ns grade is lower.

Most likely the ECC part is built on a smaller process node, allowing them to hit the same performance at lower power with a smaller die which makes it cheaper.
